Phony baloney

Of course the blog could be total fiction, but sometimes one wonders.  She is claiming to be a royal and a noble and related to the British Royal Family.  I am going out on a very short limb, and state that she is not who she says she is.

http://ladybrooks.com/

Here is why:  a daughter of an earl would know how to style herself.  Think Lady Diana Spencer.  Not Lady Spencer.   Lady Spencer would indicate the wife of the earl.   The Earl and Countess Spencer.  Lord and Lady Spencer.

Thus, the daughter of an earl is not styled as Lady Brooks.
A daughter of an earl is not styled Lady Brooks. Lady Brooks means the woman is the wife of a marquess, earl, Viscount, Baron or Baronet, as well as the wife of a Knight.   This would also be the second reference ... The Countess of  .... and then Lady Brooks if she were the Countess of Brooks.

It is very easy to research all the earls in Debrett's or Burke's - and none have the family name Brooks. There is the Barony of Crawshaw with the surname Brooks (only a peer signs by the title).  Children of Barons have the courtesy titke of Honourable.

Moreover, only the peer is not a commoner.  Children of peers have courtesy titles, but are legally commoners.

If you are going to play pretend, remember there are some people who actually own a copy of Debrett's!  Or know people who work there. Or who have done work for Debrett's.

Game is up.  Lady Brooks is a fraud.   No earl has the family name of Brookes and no British earl has a daughter named Kensington.

It looks like it may be fiction. The very top of the page says "The Lady Brooks Parody".

I think Her Ladyship is having a bit of fun doing some role playing. Very common on the internet - check out her interactions on Twitter with @Tudorheir128 @KngHnryVIII.

Click on the parody and it takes you to another site ... she has about 2000 Twitter followers - and she writes about her "connections" all the time.

The website is registered to a Scottsdale, AZ, domain company, if that's any clue.

The references to the Real Housewives make me wonder if its an attempt to create some buzz for a show about some semi-connected Brit living here.

Hard to imagine there's an actual British royal who has flown this far under the radar and suddenly wants attention. I mean, if she's for real and wants "freedom," why would she write a book and promote herself?

I think she is American by her Twitter posts (and young) .. she knows very little how titles and peerages work
