Norwegian royals to live in Capital

October 7, 1940

Crown Princess Martha of Norway and her three children, Prince Harald, 3 years old; Princess Astrid 9, and Princess Ragnild, 10, will leave Wianno, Massachussetts, tomorrow, for Washington, D.C., reports United Press.  The Crown Princess and her children have been living in seclusion in Wianno at the estate of Frederic M. Schaefer since September 9.
The "royal party will motor to Providence, R.I., under a police escort and entrain for the capital."

that would be right next to Osterville on Cape Cod for those that might be geographically challenged. Wonder why she's been on the Cape?

We are talking about Martha, who came to the US with her three kids, in 1940 after the German invasion. I assume that Schaefer was a family friend, and she stayed there until another place could be found.
