Prince Alexis's funeral

Caserta, Italy, February 11.

Sant Angelo d'Alife is a small farming town in Caserta, Italy, where the Prince of Windisch-Graetz has a palazzo on the outskirts of the town. The Princely family often spend their weekends and holidays. His younger son, Prince Alexis, was well-known in the town. He adored the sport of motor cross, and was active in a local motor cross club. Alexis' friends wanted to pay tribute to him, and provided an escort for several miles, from Caserta to the family's home. After a blessing, the coffin was brought to Rome for the funeral and burial on Friday at the Vatican.
Prince Alexis, who turned eighteen in December, suffered severe head and chest injuries when he lost control of his car and he slammed into a tree. It took some time for emergency personnel to arrive at the accident, and the Prince was in grave condition when he was brought to the local hospital.
The prince was driving home from spending the evening at a local bar with friends when he crashed into the tree.

Marlene,
The original story was that the Prince's vehicle was struck by another car driven by a young woman who also died. Is that information still correct?

It looks like these were two separate accidents and the original article linked them together.

A hobby-related motorcade/funeral procession is quite something to see or to be involved in. Last month, I was involved with organizing a vintage and sports car funeral procession. It was an amazing tribute to the deceased, as I imagine the motocross procession was to the prince. RIP....
