Former archduke gets his divorce

July 1, 1907

Leopold Wölfing, the former Austrian archduke who gave up his title and renounced his rights, to marry an actress, Wilhelmina Adamoya, was divorced today today. He filed for divorce from his wife because of her "eccentricities," according to an exclusive dispatch in the Los Angeles Times. After her marriage to Leopold, Wilhelmina developed "scandalous eccentricities," including sun bathing without clothes and becoming a vegetarian.
Leopold had deserted his first wife to marry Wilhelmina. The Austrian emperor permitted him to leave his native country, "practically exiling him," but he continues to receive an allowance of $10,000 per year.
The former Archduke plans to come to the United States "as a promoter." He recently "invented a nautical instrument for wind pressure."
